Enny Arrow Redux
- A Feminine Gaze.
Jogjakarta, August 2013/ February 2014.
A proposed collaboration of Singapore and Indonesian woman artists around a popular 1970's Indonesian erotica. This project started in February 2013 with the residency of Singapore artist, Wong Mei Sheong. The project started with the translation of a pulp fiction by Enny Arrow by Indonesian writer, Astrid Reza with the collaboration of Australian artist Clae Bastileaux. Indonesian artist, Gintani Swastika and curator, Ferial Afiff were invited to collaborate by rewriting the Enny Arrow book from the female protagonists' points of view in the book. A second residency was scheduled for February 2014 in Jogjakarta.
(This project has been stalled due to the incompatibility of working dates for the artists involved this year. Curator Mira Asriningtyas has undertaken the project as a proposal for a subsequent group show of women's art at Jogja Contemporary)
